ABOUT

Texas born artist Jonathon Kimbrell hails from Houston, however, he was raised in West Texas on a healthy dose of BBQ, Blues and Rock n' Roll. Upon graduating from McMurry University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art, he relocated to Dallas and established Napkin Art Studios; a graphic design and fine arts company.

Greatly influenced by renowned Pop and Comic Book artists such as Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha, Tom Wesselman, Roy Lichtenstein, Jack Kirby and Frank Miller, Kimbrell's subject matter ranges from famous music and film celebrities to pop culture icons. Kimbrell says about his work, “Most of my inspiration and lessons to live life by seem to come from music and classic film. I feel I find players, creators and people of these sorts to be more fascinating to paint than still-life or landscapes.”

Kimbrell’s work has not gone unnoticed. In a short amount of time, he has spanned the globe and can be seen in numerous galleries around the US, as well as the UK. His work is represented by The Cameron Gallery in Dallas, Pop Chicago Gallery in Chicago and Urban Angel Gallery in London, to name but a few. Kimbrell’s work has also been acquired by corporate and private collectors in the US, Europe and Asia. In 2004, he was a finalist for Nikon’s “Best of College Photography”. In 2009, Kimbrell’s artwork could be seen in the Spring issue of Atomic Rach Magazine, a magazine dedicated to Mid-century Home and Design.

In addition to operating Napkin Art Studios, Kimbrell designs and creates his own clothing, does freelance graphic design and occasionally creates and restores stained glass windows.

Kimbrell currently resides in Dallas, loves vinyl records and really loves BBQ.
